Master of Music Studies!

Hey,
I found out I can even apply for a "Master of Music Studies" which sounds much more interesting since I can choose each course in the program and: I can further on be tutored on the drumset!! The only thing is, the program is entered by audition. So: I have to record three pieces on the drumset and send it to Australia. Or I enroll for the Graduate Diploma and then change the program there....... a bit complicated...well, life is complicated ?? Isn't it ?

First message !

Hi folks!

First of all, thanks for visiting my Blog - I am very excited to inform about what I am doing to prepare myself for my 1-year-stay in Brisbane to study "Master of Music Studies".

All this DownUnder idea thing came up through my me-inspiring girlfriend. She told me alot about Australia, since she spent half a year there as an au pair.

My diploma course “Ton und Bild” in Düsseldorf at the Institute for Music and Media (www.musikundmedien.net) is not designed to spend a semester to study abroad. Everything is very national, since a few months we have signed our first partnershipcontract with a Conservatorium in Netherlands. Finally !! A start...

After searching around Australia and New Zealand for courses, which should have something to do with the area of music technology and further training in Jazz Drumset I found the “Graduate Diploma of Music Technology” at the Queensland Conservatorium (Griffith University). Have a look at http://www.griffith.edu.au/ or http://www.griffith.edu.au/school/qcgu/ .

I had alot to do until I would be accepted from the university, i.e. to pass the TOEFL (Test of English as a foreign Language) or collect some letters of recommendation written from my profs etc.

1st October 2006

I completed my TOEFL and I have reached even more points than I need at Griffith !

November 2006

I applied for a SCHOLARSHIP at the DAAD (deutscher akademischer austausch dienst www.daad.de) as a “Tonmeister”. I had to play a jazz piece on my drumset accompanied by two friend (piano and sax) and answer some questions concerning the work of a Sound Engineer, what I wanna do in Australia, etc...
