Again its been a while

Aber nun haben sich einige Dinge verändert:

Its been a while...

since I posted stuff...!
Since Léa is here, its a full time job studying and treating my girlfriend... :-) No, its not Leas fault!
So. its been 2 weeks I havent posted anything..what happened so far ?
We went to "Miss Saigon" which was just great !!! I think besides West Side Story, this is gonna be one of my favorite musicals. A Song, played on a solo saxophone... la la la...
In the meanwhile we went ice skating twice, which is great fun to do such thing here in Brisbane, where you meet people who have never touched or eaten snow before !!! hmmmmm...strange..
recently I played alota soccer... and this sunday, we won !!!! 2 goals !!! I see that all the training on the Play Station helps to invent strategies to win a game easily.. .
Unfortunately we havent made it to the beach yet, cuz the weather was bad in the last days/weeks.
But we went to the riverside markets, i worked on one of my projects by filming and recording sudanese people, somewhere in between a 70s party, and...
As an engineer and producer I am preparing the recording of a big jazz concert at Griffith uni (http://www.ourbrisbane.com/whatson/south-bank-jazz-festival/event_detail.htm?eid=92665&sd=2007-08-31&s=3,5).
This is a big deal. As well as Mahlers 10th Symphony beginning of October , which is beeing recorded in surround.
Ok, we have to go to Aldi now, I will post more later !
See you

Léa...

arrived ! Everything went fine. She does not seem to have serious problems with the jetlag. Well, not as bad as I had...
Yesterday we were at Garden City, which is a biiig shopping mall. See what we found there:

We felt really .. funny.. seeing stores like "lena´s" or "Lea" or Katies (kathy...)...
Australians seem to like our names :-)

Also a toys-r-us shop passed our way... or we passed the shop ?? Oh, toys r us is great :-)!

AND: On Friday I had my first concert recording over here. The Conservatorium Chamber Orchestra played pieces from Ravel, Debussy, etc. I had the pleasure of working as the mixing engineer, so unfortunately I didnt set up the mics but did the rest... :-)
short summary: 02r96, protools, digi 002, g5 mac

Today is our first soccer inter-campus-uni-match. Léa is cheerleader and camera assistant. So maby you will find a really embarrassing video me hitting the goalpost...or so.
any comments ?

Else I am involved in a really cool project which is about a sudanian musician who puts typical sudanian music into a contemporary arrangement. He wants to break the circle of typical sudanese music. The documentary also will show the vibe and culture of the sudanese people and the sudanese community here in brisbane.
The most thing I am realllly excited about is my girlfriend arriving in 1,5 days !!!!! yeah...!!

It seems...

..as if I would just stay here for this semester ! I went thru a bunch of things, from a Master of Philosophy, Master of Music, which was far to expensive for me, so I decided to finish my GradCertificate degree and then... see ! who knows what is happening with me in a few months ??? God knows... !
After I travelled to dubai in december I will prob be travelling around beginning of next year and then I´ll have to finish my sound and visual project work... damit. I knew there still was something...before starting to write on my research thesis (auf deutsch diplomarbeit..).
well, but here we are having wonderful evenings of everybody singing his homecountry national anthemn ( I knew the german one better than "land der berge, land der täler...")
. That was really cool.. :-)
I have classes tomorrow, so see you. good night.
crikey !

things have changed..

hi there
well in the last days things have changed. I will tell you more when things are 100 % definite. But up to now I can tell you check my site these days; it will be very interesting!! So long I will tell you about my first trip to the sunshine coast: it was cool. I went there with 3 friends (all german...) with a Pajero. The plan was to surf but unfortunately the sun was only shining from about 11 to 2 pm and lying in the sun and swimming... time goes by so fast... so at least I learned how to stand on a surf board as soon as I am "en la onda" . never underestimate that its still winter here, thus as soon the clouds masking the sun, its coooooold...
look at this video. its great...

Impressions

For all english spoken people here: (everybody read this..!!)
So have me times opened around a few impressions of the Campus to catch, where I live. He is as one at the photo sees quite large. I live in the southern part of the Campus. Here also, however only so Envoronment, Science, Technics etc. the college OF is studied kind and that Conservatorium are on the “South bank” Campus, which is direct in the city, because of the most beautiful place of the city. Photo of the South bank Campus Mach I then next week…! There are here all kinds of things on the Campus: a post office, a Frisör, a STA Travel, etc. Purchase possibilities such as Coles (supermarket) or ALDI or Woolworth are nevertheless rather 12 minutes with the wheel or by car attainable. Thus not sooo madly. But ok. Because I come thus directly to the second point: The bus system is shits somehow here (kinda shiddy). Somehow only once per hour the laaangsamen so every 15 minutes drive the express penalty INTO the city. But back is the horror. There one is already times 50 minutes on the way. But if one drank alcohol, that is also not bad so…: -) The tickets cost in such a way 1.60 dollar for students for 3 zones. Students pay here for EACH ticket half. All the same which costs it (whether monthly, or weekly ticket.). But one must to it-say that the bus drivers is mostly helpful and one also (to 90% correctly) to say to be able where one must transfer now or must. Sport to make can here here also. There is a Squash Court (Hey, are finally added I times!!!) , must organize me only a racquet. The Swimmingpool is unfortunately broken. Unfortunately. Have the attendant already said that I also one of my water bottles would sacrifice around something water to do purely, but he did not mean it anything would bring. Naja. Otherwise gibts stop still another Gym for the Bodybuilder among us and a few sports fields. Condemned. I have-having mine Conrad remote controlling flier to carry forward are!!!!! shits. I would have here mine fun… Thus I go now one drinking. Was now somehow each evening like that, then must be also kept. With the bottle owner of Simone! Thanks! BIG UP YA

Thanks for the great translation, DOM !!

Also nicht sooo toll.
Danke !
BIG-UP-YA

first student event

I do not only spend my time at the beach.
The first student event at Uni was quite boring....they told us some info about Brisbane and that we are not suppose to take drugs´n´stuff, cuz they won´t help us when we are the police station...or in jail. very kind!
Else, I found a little brochure, where you can find hygiene tips. see for yourself. very interesting. The way you e.g. should not sit on a toilette or not spit...

Jetzt wirds erst interessant...

g´day mate !
alsoooo , today we made a ride to "surfers paradise", in other words: THE BEACH. Have a look. It´s amazing there. Just great. Clean, sunny (despite the winter), nice chicks (sorry Léa), wam water...
Abends ist es recht kühl (bis 14 Grad) aber unter tags its really warm. last days up to about 26 degrees.
So I hope I made you jealous.
any comments on that ? ;-)

Jetlag is gone, Brisbane, I am coming ...!

So, yesterday, all my troubles....
no.
Finally, I feel much better, than I did these days. My stomach does not ache, my head does not feel as if it would explode and my body got used to the new eating times..yeah!
In fact my stomach did not feel so well after I ate at "Hungry Jack's". You know that ? Well see the picture and guess what it could be.
Yep, you are right: Burger King.
The second thing I found whilst biking thru Brisbane, was "Donut King". What I think is, they got kinda mixed up here w the names. See for yourself.
Donut King = Dunkin´Donuts.
Well. After having a Hot Dog (famous !!) at IKEA, I felt like I was back in Germany.
Tomorrow I will have my first "gettin´ started for international students" Einführungsveranstaltung and I am sooo excited !!! I dont even know what Einführungsveranstaltung means in english. just kiddin´. On Saturday I will move in the student accommodation called "The Hub" where I will stay w two asians (oh no..... please do not cook!-sorry to all asians..) and an australian. So, I can improve my english.
I want to say hi to my sister in Buenos Aires, who is 13 hours behind !!!!!!! When I go to bed, she gets up. I go to bed at 2 a.m. she gets up at 1 p.m.
so see you later. more pictures these days.

JetLags are annoying..

...but hey: I arrived !! On my first day I even explored Brisbane by foot (about 4 hours)..!! But I am still sooo tired, I have a headache and a sore throat. Hope I get used to the time change (8 hours) fast.
In the morning we have about 8 to 10 degrees C and at noon temperature changes to 25 to 28 degrees C !!! Super !! My blood pressure goes wild...!
As soon as I get my bike fixed (should be today) I can finally explore Brisbane by bike. I must buy a helmet, the australians are very strict about that..the woman in the bike shop asked me: "Mate, you wanna pay 75 $ for not wearing a helmet or 75 $ for buying one?" :-)

Yesterday I went shopping in a Mall, around Brisbane. Guess, where.... see foryourself.
They have the same logo as they have in "Aldi Süd" or as they say in Austria: Hofer.
But it seems that the australians are not used to buying food out of boxes...
Next week I will have a look at Ikea...

C´mon guys post some comments on my blog! see ya.

I am a tourist.

Finally I have my visa. But as Hanna already said, these F$%** australians... I paid 280 Euros for nothing. On the one hand I applied for my student visa early enough, on the other hand I cannot get my visa without the CoE. So, I had to cancel my application without getting back my money. I now have a tourist visa...and next week I will apply for a student visa again. maby online this time...? well. How annoying !!

Visa !

Hey.
Ok, now the most important thing I am actually STILL waiting for is my visa.
4 days to go! My plane will leave on sunday at 10 o´clock pm ! No matter whether Stefan has his visa or not. I am also still waiting for my CoE(Confirmation of Enrollment) which I need for my visa. This is really thrilling !!!
In fact, I have my absence semester allotted. see pic ..

My move-out of düsseldorf went quite well. Nobody got hurt, nothing broke, everything was well organized and all my friends who helped me were superb !! Thanks folks.
I put most of my stuff in a storageroom, where my room is packed in about 30 boxes..
My sister and my dear girlfriend got other stuff (like my microwave, my flat screen, my superpowerprinter..).
Now I will have to contact the Uni and the Government........damn...
wish me good luck y´all !!!
